Description
Ontologisation of the CIF dictionaries by the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr). Currently only the CIF core ontology has been realised. It is a set of data names designed to cover the requirements of archiving and exchanging raw and processed data and derived structural results for single-crystal small-molecule and inorganic crystal studies. All the CIF ontologies are based on the cif_top ontology, which is an ontologisation of the CIF dictionary definition language (DDL). These ontologies are not dependent on any top level ontology (except cif_top) in order to make it easy for users to use them together with a suitable top level ontology. That said, the structure is closely inspired by EMMO and is used as the relational basis for the parallel development of the EMMO-based crystallography domain ontology: https://github.com/emmo-repo/domain-crystallography. @en
